Welcome to the Sunderland Safety Group

rospa_affilation_logoThe Sunderland Safety Group is a non-profit making organisation, which is affiliated to RoSPA (The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents). SSG celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2011 and consists of members from a wide range of private and public organisations, from in and around the City of Sunderland. Our mission is to:

Make Sunderland a safer place in which to live and work

The Group is a member of Safety Groups UK, which promotes health and safety nationwide through a network of local Occupational Health and Safety Groups. Their overall mission is to ensure that the groups are key players in the UK health and safety system and in the delivery of UK health and safety strategy.

The format of each meeting includes input from the HSE, who impart news and views on current health and safety issues – including their latest publications. Also, there is usually a speaker who addresses attendees on a topical health and safety issue.

If anyone with an interest in health and safety at work would like to hs_coneattend all they have to do is come along to one of the monthly meeting (without the need to book or to join) to see what we are about and in the hope that you will join and support us in the future.

Please feel free to browse the group website and if you have a query please contact either the Press Officer Gill Cogdon,or the secretary  Donna McTernan.

Membership is open to all companies and individuals. The Group is sustained through the membership fees, currently £30 per annum, but appreciates that our talks are designed to promote health and safety to a very wide and diverse range of organizations and individuals.

The venue is the Conference Centre, Hylton Centre, City of Sunderland College, North Hylton Road, Sunderland, and we shall be delighted to welcome you.  Meetings are held between 2.00 and 4.00 pm on the second Thursday of each month, September to June inclusive.
